Freckleton fire – update, 3.45pm Tuesday 10th January 2012

Earlier today, we were authorised by police supporting the family to disclose the fact that smoke detectors were not operational in the house on Lytham Road, Freckleton, in which 4-year-old twins Ella and Holly, brothers 19-year-old Reece, and 2-year-old Jordan died.  All four died as a result of smoke inhalation.

Our purpose in giving this information is to emphasise the crucial importance of having working smoke detectors in the home to provide an early warning in case of fire.

In addition, we want to remind people that by dialling Freephone 0800 1691125 or by visiting the Home Fire Safety Page on this website, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service provide a free service to advise people how to prevent fire in the home and to fit free smoke detectors.
