Lancashire’s Firefighters On The Road on Saturday

On Saturday, not only will every fire station in Lancashire be open to members of the public between 11am and 5pm, fire service personnel from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service will be on the streets of the county.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is aiming to give out free 10 year smoke alarms to any member of the public who does not have a working smoke alarm in their property. The SAFER day is happening exactly two weeks after the incident in Freckleton that killed four people, where it was found that batteries had been removed from the smoke alarm.

Firefighters and Community Fire Safety Practitioners will be at all of Lancashire’s 39 fire station and on the streets at supermarkets, shopping centres, and town centres. Firefighters from Lytham Fire Station will be in Freckleton handing out smoke alarms and advising people on how they can keep safe from fire in their home. Firefighters from Preston will also be in the car park at Preston North End’s Deepdale stadium before their game on Saturday afternoon.
