​Below is the job description for the Head of Service Development

  • Provide leadership, support and guidance for all Service Development staff and promote a culture of continuous improvement within the department

  • Plan, develop, monitor and review a wide range of prevention and protection strategies to reduce the levels of risk from fire and other emergency incidents within Lancashire

  • Assist the Deputy Chief Fire Officer (Director of Strategy and Planning) and other senior managers in policy formulation, planning, target setting, implementation, and review of fire safety activities

  • Engage with a wide range of fire service and non-fire service bodies to actively promote the concept of enhanced safety from fire, and to encourage co-operation and partnership working on shared ambitions

  • Provide support and guidance to LFRS fire safety staff on data production and utilisation, and produce robust, user-friendly management information to facilitate informed organisational decisions in respect of fire safety resources

  • Co-ordinate and collate relevant information and performance data from a range of sources and produce timely and accurate reports for the Combined Fire Authority, service staff and other external bodies

  • Attend and provide strategic advice at operational incidents/exercises and take command where appropriate​​​
