To deliver services that truly meet the needs of all communities in Lancashire it is important that we have a full understanding of those needs, create services that can be accessed by all and have a workforce that is broadly representative of the communities we work for. The Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service’s Equality and Diversity Strategy 2008-2013 document outlines five priority areas for action:
* Leadership and promoting equality and diversity
* Accountability (a procedure for making sure that the objectives are being met and are seen to be being met)
* Effective Service delivery and community engagement
* Employment and training
* Evaluation and demonstrating good practice
