When a request is made to borrow an EYFS Box a member of LFRS personnel will make arrangements for the handover of the Box, go through its contents and suggest ways in which it can be best used. Generally this will be through topic work themes, such as “People who help us”. If it is felt appropriate and circumstances permit, the LFRS staff member may supplement this by delivering a direct teaching session to the group, either at the time or at a later date within the loan period.
Each EYFS Box contains a variety of practical education resources including:
- ‘Small world’ toys
- Dressing up kit/ Role play equipment
- Jigsaws and games
- Posters
- Books and poems and games
- Frances the Firefly- DVD, book and jigsaw
- Teacher’s information booklet
- An Activity Book
EYFS Settings are given the Boxes in a complete state and are asked to return them as they were received. An inventory exists to help with this.
