At Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service all our activity is geared toward achieving our purpose of Making Lancashire Safer. Being able to meet this purpose, achieve our priorities and provide clear feedback on how we are doing requires a comprehensive planning and performance framework.
Risk Management Plan
Our Risk Management Plan 2011-2013 sets out the strategic focus and medium term ambitions of the Service. We review and refresh the Risk Management Plan every year to make sure that it continues to address any emerging issues. The refreshed activity is outlined in an Annual Performance Report and Action Plan.
Supporting Service Strategies
A number of key Service strategies complement the Risk Management Plan which thinking and activity in the specific areas in more detail.
These include our Community Safety Strategy which sets out how we deliver Prevention, Protection and Emergency Response activity; our Workforce Development Strategy which looks at all aspects of staff development and our Medium Term Financial Strategy which ensures that cost and value for money is considered in everything we develop or deliver. District and Departmental Plans
Day-to-day business is co-ordinated through departmental and district plans which are reviewed every year. Where action is required to tackle a particular issue, a dedicated action plan will be produced.
We operate a comprehensive project management framework which means that projects are prioritised according to risk and any issues affecting all departments or Areas are identified and resources are allocated to the most important issues.
Reporting our Progress
Within the Risk Management Plan we set a number of performance indicators to measure how well we are doing against our objectives. Progress against these is reported to the Combined Fire Authority Performance Committee each quarter. You can view these updates in our Performance section.
Each year we produce a Performance Report and Action Plan in which we report our annual performance against our performance indicators.
Where we are looking at significant change in the way we deliver our services, we will provide details within the Performance Report and Action Plan and include information about consultation arrangements.
