Your Fire & Rescue Service

For more than 50 years, Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service has been protecting the people of Lancashire – helping to make the community safer for everyone.

From responding to fires, to conducting school visits and giving fire safety advice in the home, our success is built on the hard work of our operational, control and support staff. Our successes speak for themselves:

  • Deaths and injuries from accidental dwelling fires have halved since 2003/04
  • Deliberate fires have reduced by nearly 30%
  • In 2007/08 we are on track to see our lowest ever casualty figures – carrying on a three year trend in reductions

The best way to save a life is to prevent a fire happening in the first place, and our focus now is heavily on fire prevention. In the last year alone we have carried out more than 40,000 Home Fire Safety Checks (a free service in which one of our crews comes to your home and gives advice on fire safety as well as fitting a free smoke alarm if necessary).

We are also working closely with the police, local authorities and local NHS Trusts to conduct our work in the most effective way – which includes being a delivery partner for the Princes Trust programme in Lancashire to engage and empower our local young people. Every year we visit around 50,000 Year 2 and Year 6 pupils as part of our extensive Childsafe fire safety educational programmes.

If you are unsure how you would cope if fire broke out in your home, please call and request a Home Fire Safety Check on the freephone number 0800 1691125.

Always keep the door and window keys in the same place and tell everyone where that is.
