Vacancies

Retained

Do you have the qualities we are looking for? Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service are always looking for members of our community who can fulfil the demanding role of fire fighter on the Retained Duty System. In most circumstances a fire fighter on the Retained Duty System has another job or career, and provides on call cover, part time, for the Fire Service either from home, or in some circumstances from their place of work. In contrast, a whole time fire fighter works on a full time basis at a station. We have Retained Duty System personnel based at the following stations: Morecambe, Bolton le Sands, Carnforth, Silverdale, Hornby, Garstang, Fleetwood, Preesall, Bamber Bridge, Ormskirk, Chorley, Skelmersdale, Tarleton, Longridge, Hyndburn, Great Harwood, Darwen, Clitheroe, Wesham, Lytham, St Anne’s, Bacup, Rawtenstall, Haslingden, Padiham, Barnoldswick, Nelson, Earby and Colne. Whilst there aren’t always vacancies at each station all the time, we run a rolling programme of recruitment all year round for Retained Duty System staff. If there are no current vacancies at the station of your choice, we will still process your application and, should you be successful, contact you when a vacancy arises. Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of our community. We are keen to increase the diversity of our workforce so that we can truly understand and reflect the community we serve. We are currently under-represented within the Service by females and those from black or minority ethnic groups. If you think you have what it takes to become a fire fighter on the Retained Duty System, want to serve your local community, are over 18 and can respond to your local fire station within 5 minutes we may have a position for you so download an application pack today.
