Day one you’ll meet your team mates, draw up a Team contract and learn more about the programme. Throughout the rest of the week you’ll learn about health and safety, food hygiene, sexual health and fire awareness, along with action planning and target setting and preparing for a week away.
Week 2: Team Building residential
You’ll spend a week away from home, trying a range of challenging activities. This will give you a chance to explore team work skills where you’ll aim to develop them over the week, along with improving leadership, communication, motivation, and self-confidence.
Weeks 3 – 5 Planning and undertaking a community project
As a Team, you’ll need to decide on, prepare and complete a local community project. This experience will increase skills you didn’t know you had and give you confidence to talk about real life experiences you have taken part in, especially during interviews. At the end of the project you’ll take part in a community project handover where you and your Team will get recognised locally for the work you have undertaken.
Week 6 Leadership and work placement preparation
During this week you’ll take a deep breath and reflect on the last 6 weeks, whilst taking part in leadership tasks and awareness sessions. You’ll then start to get yourself ready for the work placement stage with the support from staff.
Weeks 7-8 Work placement
You’ll been given the opportunity to spend two weeks on a work placement, testing out if this type of work is for you, get a chance to use the skills developed over the last 6 weeks and putting them into practice. At the end of the two weeks you will get a reference and current experience to add to your CV
Week 9: Plan for the future
Having done your work placement, you can now work out what your next steps are and plan your options for the future. You’ll been given the chance to explore career choices, set action plans and take part in sessions to help you with writing application forms, writing speculative letters and compiling a professional CV. You’ll also take part in a real life mock interview and get feedback on how you performed.
Weeks 10-11: Team challenge
As a Team you’ll be challenged to plan and organise activities to help others in the local community. You may need to raise funds or write to companies to help support your cause. You will then work with your chosen groups and host them, ensuring they enjoy the activities.
Week 12: Have your say
In your final week, you’ll deliver a presentation to your friends and family as well as potential employers, and Prince’s Trust staff. This will be your chance to show off the skills you’ve gained over the last 12 weeks and explain what you’ve been up to and what you plan to do after the course. This may sound scary now, but after 12 weeks on Team you’ll be surprised at how far you’ve come.

Anyone can take part in the Prince’s Trust as long as they are aged between 16 to 25 years old and it is absolutely FREE. If you are unemployed you should still get all of your benefits.
