At 12:00 midday on 21st March, two fire engines, one 4×4 vehicle, Urban Search and Rescue and a support vehicle from Rawtenstall and Nelson attended an animal rescue on Lomas Lane, Rawtenstall. The incident involved a horse that had become stuck on muddy ground. Firefighters used large animal rescue equipment and a hand saw to rescue the animal. They were in attendance for two hours.
