At 14:38 on 8 June 2023, two fire engines from Burnley and Bacup attended a fire in the open near Hurstwood Reservoir, Burnley. The fire involved a bonfire which had spread to peat moss in woodland. Crews used one jet, one aqua pack, beaters and shovels to bring the incident under control and were at the scene for just over one hour.
