Five fire engines from Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and Great Harwood along with the Stinger from Blackburn attended a fire in an industrial unit on Lower Hollin Bank Street in Blackburn. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used two jets to tackle the fire which involved a large quantity of waste within the building, and worked with the Environment Agency to mitigate any environmental impact from the water run off.

Two fire engines remain at the scene this morning damping down and we will be working with partners and the site owner to excavate the waste in order to ensure all pockets of fire are extinguished.
