Six fire engines and an Aerial Ladder Platform from Preston, Penwortham, Bamber Bridge, Leyland, Chorley, Darwen and Blackburn attended a fire involving a commercial building on Blackburn Road in Higher Walton.
While the fire has been brought under control, gas cylinders are present in the building so firefighters are expected to be in attendance for several hours to make the scene safe. There is some disruption to the surrounding area and police are in attendance for highway safety.
The Aerial Ladder Platform from Preston fire station is still in attendance, while drones are being used to assess the area. No fire safety issues or injuries have been identified and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Crews are likely to remain in attendance for the majority of the day damping down.
The number of appliances has been reduced to one Aerial Ladder Platform and three fire engines.
After carrying out temperature checks throughout the evening, crews are now leaving the incident.
Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two jets, one hose reel, two ground monitors, a thermal imaging camera and an Aerial Ladder Platform to bring the fire under control.
Crews were in attendance for approximately 12 hours.
