At 15:54 on 20th December, five fire engines from Nelson, Colne, Burnley, and Hyndburn, together with a stinger appliance from Skelmersdale and an aerial ladder platform from Hyndburn, attended a commercial building fire on Bankhouse Road, Nelson. The incident involved tyres inside a commercial property approximately 10x10m in size. Firefighters are likely to remain in attendance for several hours.

This incident is creating a large smoke plume. If your property is affected by smoke, please keep all doors and windows closed.

This afternoon, we were called to a commercial building fire on Bankhouse Lane, Nelson. Firefighters were met with a well developed fire and they have been working all evening to bring the fire under control.
With the aerial ladder platform and the stinger, the crews have managed to get to a point this evening where the number of fire engines at the scene can be reduced from 8 to 4.
We will be there all night to ensure the fire doesn’t spread to neighbouring properties. We have worked with partners to make local residents safe. No injuries have been reported and a full fire investigation will begin tomorrow morning.

Firefighters have remained at the scene of the fire on Bankhouse Road, Nelson overnight. One fire engine and a aerial ladder platform are damping down. Later this morning, the local authority will assess the structure of the building and the fire investigation will begin. No injuries have been reported
