Ten fire engines and specialist units including two aerial ladder platforms were called to a fire involving a commercial property on Cowley Road, Blackpool. Firefighters used multiple jets, breathing apparatus and the aerial ladder platforms to bring the fire under control. Due to smoke in the area, locals were asked to keep windows and doors shut if they could smell smoke and a number of roads were closed by Lancashire Police.
As of 11:30, the fire is under control and the number of fire engines has reduced to six. No injuries were reported and the fire investigation has now begun.

Shortly after 13:00, firefighters at the scene noticed that the fire was starting to spread to an adjoining building. The number of fire engines at the scene was increased to 10 and firefighters are now working to bring the fire under control. There have been no injuries reported and if locals can smell smoke, they should stay inside and close windows and doors.

The incident has now been scaled down to eight fire engines and two aerial ladder platforms. The fire has been brought under control but firefighters are working to prevent the fire from spreading to further units. Firefighters will remain at the scene for most of the night.
