Fire crews have finished damping down at the site however will be carrying out periodic inspections. An investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.

Three fire engines are now at the site on Bournes Row in Brindle, damping down and extinguishing small pockets of fire that remain. The structure of the building is unstable and will be insepcted today.

Six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform remain at the scene. The fire is under control however we continue to tackle small pockets of fire within the building and will be there overnight. The advice to keep windows and doors closed if you’re nearby remains.

At 09:52 Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service responded to a fire at an industrial unit on Bournes Row in Brindle. Ten fire engines, two aerial ladder platforms and a stinger from across the county are currently in attendance.

The building is two storey and approximately 30 x 20m, and firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus are currently bringing the fire under control.

Those nearby are advised to keep their windows and doors shut to protect them from the smoke.
