Six fire crews (including some from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service) are tackling a fire at a commercial premises on Tennyson Drive in Ormskirk. The building was well alight when firefighter arrived at the scene and crews are working using breathing apparatus and hose reels to bring the fire under control. The fire involved three rooms within the building and firefighters are bringing it under control using breathing apparatus and three main jets. Tactical support is now also being provided by the Lancashire aerial support unit.
Update 21:30hrs – Crews have brought the fire under control and are now stripping back in places to check for signs of hidden fire spread. They will remain in attendance for some time yet, damping down any hot spots.
Update – Crews remain in attendance however, it was reduced to only one fire engine overnight. They have been monitoring the temperatures of the area using a thermal imaging camera.
