At 13:40 on the 26th December 2022, six fire engines from Blackpool, South Shore, Bispham, Lytham, St Annes and Fleetwood attended a commercial property fire on Church Street, Blackpool. Firefighters are wearing breathing apparatus and are using two hose reel jets and two hose reels to extinguish the fire. Crews remain in attendance.
The Drone team is attending this incident. Please do not fly drones as you will obstruct emergency operations.
Please avoid the area.
Update at 15:00: We have eight fire engines and the aerial ladder platform from Blackpool along with the drone team are in attendance at the incident with firefighting operations underway. Crews remain in attendance.
We are working with Lancashire Police and other partners in a multi-agency response to the incident.
Please avoid the area and keep your windows and doors closed if you are affected by smoke.
Update at 16:45: The incident has now been reduced to 4 fire engines and the aerial ladder platform. There has been a partial building collapse and we are working with partners to make the area safe.
We continue to ask the public to avoid the area and would like to thank you for your co-operation and understanding.
Update at 19:00: The incident has been reduced to one pump which will remain in attendance overnight. Crews are damping down and monitoring any remaining hotspots. We are working closely with partners agencies to minimise disruptions to residents and businesses.
Update 10:30 on 27/12/22:
The cordon will remain in place whilst our crews work with partner agencies to make the scene safe, conduct searches and preserve the scene for the fire investigation.
There is road closure in place between the junctions of Corporation St and Coronation St, with affected businesses remaining closed.
