Fire crews from Preston and Penwortham attended reports of a mechanical digger on fire. When they arrived they quickly dealt with the fire which involved a thirteen tonne excavator using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel. Firefighters were in attendance approximately 55 minutes. The cause of the fire is thought to have been started deliberately and an investigation is underway.
