County Councillor Nikki Hennessy, a member of The Lancashire Combined Fire Authority, visited her local fire stations on Friday in Ormskirk and Skelmersdale.

The County Councillor, who used to work for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service as a Care Services Liaison Officer, was given a tour of the fire engines, fire stations and sat down to talk to the firefighters about their experiences of working in the Service.

Speaking of her visit to the stations in West Lancashire, County Councillor Nikki Hennessy said:

“I have huge admiration for the firefighters, both wholetime and retained, and I want to thank them for keeping our communities safe.”

“I know from my time as both an employee of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and as a member of The Lancashire Combined Fire Authority that firefighters are incredibly brave and very professional. This was highlighted to me when I was talking to them about some of the fires and incidents they have attended and when they gave me a demonstration of some of the equipment in the station.”

“This Saturday 14th October Ormskirk Fire Station is hosting a car wash and raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity who help treat injured firefighters and their families. It is great charity and their support to firefighters is invaluable so I encourage you to visit the station between 10am and 3pm.”
