Firefighters from Skelmersdale, Ormskirk and a crew from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue attended reports of a fire at a derelict commercial premises on Castle Lane, West Head. On arrival firefighters found the roof of a building approximately 50m by 40m well alight. Crews used the Stinger and three hose reels to bring the fire under control. At approximately 02:00 hours the number of fire engines was reduced to one to monitor the scene and continue damping down. A joint fire investigation will begin as soon as possible in the morning of October 3rd.
