At 01:44 six fire engines from Rawtenstall, Haslingden, Blackburn, Bury, Ramsbottom and the aerial ladder platform from Preston were called to a derelict building fire on Bury Road, Rawtenstall. The property measured approximately 50m x 50m and is derelict. Road closures were put in place by the police to assist firefighters with their firefighting. Firefighting was sectorized and the drone was in attendance to assist with firefighting with jets being used in each sector.
At 04:40 the incident was reduced to three fire engines and the aerial ladder platform
At 06:14 firefighters are still at the scene. Fighting the fire from outside and still unable to access property
At 14:54 the aerial ladder platform is being used to dampen down hot spots
At 15:15 the road has now been reopened
At 15:33 crews are continuing to dampen down and a fire engine is expected to remain at the scene into the early hours. The building has been deemed too dangerous for firefighters to enter to conduct a fire investigation at this time
