Fire crews from Garstang and Bamber Bridge were initially mobilised to the incident on Vale Terrace, Barnacre after reports of a fire affecting two buildings where it was suspected that gas cylinders may be involved. Upon arrival firefighters requested a further six fire engines which included the Aerial Ladder Platform from Lancaster and the command support unit from Hyndburn. The air support unit was also in attendance. After assessment the cylinders were deemed safe and crews set about tackling the fire which involved two terraced properties using three jets and two breathing apparatus. At 22:49hrs the incident was reduced to four fire engines. Fire crews remained at the scene overnight and at midnight the incident was reduced to two pumps. An investigation and scene assessment is due to take place at 09:00hrs.
