Domestic Building FIre in Blackburn

At 17:30 on 25th April, eight fire engines from Blackburn, Hyndburn, Darwen, Bamber Bridge, Nelson, Leyland, including a stinger appliance, an aerial ladder platform from Hyndburn, and a command unit from Fulwood, attended a domestic building fire on Worcester Road, Blackburn. The fire affected multiple domestic properties. Firefighters used two hose reels, two breathing apparatus, scene lighting, a thermal imaging camera, the stinger and the aerial ladder platform to combat the fire. No injuries have been reported. Multi-agency meetings are taking place to co-ordinate operational response.

Update 18:15 – this incident has been escalated to eight pumps.

Update 19:10 – this fire is now under control. Road closures are in place, so please avoid the area if possible. The smoke has now dissipated, so nearby residents can open windows and doors again as normal.

Update 19:55 – an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Update 20:00 – damping down is now in progress.

Update 20:40 – this incident has been deescalated to four pumps with the aerial ladder platform. Crews are due to maintain a presence at the scene overnight.

Update 01:25 (26/04) – crews are checking the affected properties for hot spots using thermal imaging equipment.
