At 00:02 three fire engines from Colne and Nelson were mobilised to a fire on the ground floor of a mid-terraced property on Burnley Road, Colne. Firefighters used two hose reels, six breathing apparatus and one positive ventilation fan to extinguish the fire. One casualty was treated by firefighters and then conveyed to hospital. Unfortunately another man inside the property was sadly found deceased.
