Domestic building fire in Lancaster

At 17:20 six fire engines from Lancaster, Morecambe, Bolton-le-Sands and Carnforth as well as the aerial ladder platfrom from Preston were called to a domestic building fire on Sycamore Close, Lancaster. The property was a domestic dwelling consisting of two floors which was well alight and had spread to a further three properties, one of which was also well alight, a detached garage and 70m of fencing.

Firefighters used 2 jets, four hose reels, six breathing apparatus and the aerial ladder platform.

UPDATE at 17:52 the fire had been surrounded

UPDATE at 18:20 firefighters used a thermal imaging camera and a 10.5 metre ladder to remove roof tiles, checking for fire and dampening down of the four properties

All persons were accounted for however one casualty was administered to hospital for checks following smoke inhalation

UPDATE at 19:40 two fire engines remaining at the property checking hot spots

UPDATE at 20:38 final survey of building undertaken and crews making up equipment

Firefighters were at the scene for four hours. Residents from four of the properties were evacuated due to the extensive damage and two further properties were affected by smoke by residents remained in their homes.
