At 12:20 fire engines from Tarleton and Penwortham attended a kitchen fire on Gorse Lane, Tarleton. The fire involved a chip pan and crews used two breathing apparatus and a positive ventilation fan to extinguish the fire. There were two casualties, one suffering burns and the other smoke inhalation and both were conveyed to hospital. Crews were at the scene for fifty minutes.
