Firefighters were called to reports of a domestic property fire at Eagle Street, Accrington shortly after 6 o’clock this morning (7th January). There are currently six fire engines in attendance including an Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP) and the Aerial Support Unit. The fire involves a building approximately 30m by 15m and has spread to the roof of the property. Firefighters are currently working to bring the fire under control. Further updates will be provided as soon as possible.
The fire involves a building consisting of three floors. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have carried out searches within the building and led three occupants to safety before it was declared that all persons were accounted for at approximately 07:15hrs. The casualties are being assessed by paramedics at the scene. Firefighting operations have the fire surrounded and the number of fire engines at the scene of soon to be be reduced to four and an aerial ladder platform.
Firefighters further reduced the number of crews at the scene to one fire engine at around 10:15hrs to assist with the fire investigation. An investigation into the cause of the fire has begun in conjunction with Lancashire Police.
