At 17:13 two fire engines from Blackburn attended a report of a building fire on Whalley New Road, Blackburn. This was a fire involving a mattress in a first floor bedroom of a domestic property. Fire crews extinguished the fire using one hose reel, an aqua lida pack and positive ventilation fan. An ambulance attended for one casualty who was suffering with smoke inhalation. Firefighters were in attendance for approximately one hour and thirty minutes.
