Two fire engines from Chorley and one from Horwich (Greater Manchester Fire Service) responded to a house fire involving a cooker. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used a hosereel jet to extinguish the fire and a portable fan unit to extract the smoke. The occupant suffered the effects of breathing smoke and he was taken to hospital for treatment.
