Fire crews from Bacup were called to reports of some grassland on fire near Buxton Street, Whitworth. Firefighters from Bacup attended and upon arrival requested an additional two fire crews along with the wildfire unit to assist with the incident. The fire ground covered approximately two square hectares of grassland. Firefighters proceeded on foot and extinguished the fire using leaf blowers and beaters. Crews were in attendance approximately 45 minutes.
