Search and rescue operations have been carried out with assistance from a search dog and the air support unit. Sadly, a body was recovered from the property. A joint investigation with Lancashire Police will take place to establish the cause of the fire. Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting log 0177 of March 8, 2022.
One fire engine will remain at this incident overnight to dampen down any further hot spots in the building.
Six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform from Hyndburn, Padiham, Blackburn, Clitheroe, Haslingden, Great Harwood and Fulwood are in attendance at a fire involving a terraced house on Queen Street in Whalley, which spread to three adjacent properties. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used three jets and two hose reels to bring the fire under control. Firefighters remain at the incident damping down and making the area safe.
A number of residents have been evacuated and we are working with Lancashire Police and the local authority in a multi-agency response to this incident.
Queen Street is closed. Please avoid the area.
