This afternoon, Jon Charters was appointed as the service’s new Assistant Chief Fire Officer. Jon, who has been acting up in the role since the start of the year, will continue with his role as Director of Service Delivery.
Jon says: “I am honoured and delighted to have received the news this afternoon and I am looking forward to continuing moving the service forward.”
Justin Johnston, Chief Fire Officer, says: “Following a rigorous process that culminated in a panel interview with myself and CFA Members, I was thrilled to share the news with Jon on his successful promotion. Jon has worked throughout the service since joining as a firefighter in 1999 and is well respected throughout the whole organisation.”
Chairman of the Combined Fire Authority, County Councillor David O’Toole added: “Jon’s leadership stood out during the interview process, and I am confident that the service will continue to build on the recent award, Emergency Service of the Year, with Justin, Steve and Jon as the service’s three principal officers.”
