At 13:22 two fire engines from Colne went to a property fire on Skelton Street, Colne. On arrival firefighters quickly dealt with a fire involving a cooker which was out on arrival however they carried out salvage work to the affected area. Fire crews also assisted with one casualty who was suffering from shock but declined hospital treatment. The damage was severe to the cooker and grill, light smoke to the two ground floor rooms. Firefighters fitted two smoke alarms whilst in attendance and were detained at the scene for approximately thirty minutes.
