At 18:17 on 19th March 2023, six fire engines from Chorley, Preston, Bamber Bridge, Penwortham, and Leyland, as well as the drone team, attended a fire involving a landfill site on Dawson Lane, Whittle-le-Woods. Crews used two jets, one ground monitor, and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. Firefighters will remain on scene in to the night as they continue damping down and checking for hotspots.
