Fire crews from Blackburn and Hyndburn were called to reports of a fire in a domestic property on Bunkers Hill Close, Blackburn where it was thought there was a person still inside the premise. Upon arrival firefighters found the fire involved the ground floor of the property and they rescued one person from a first floor window using a triple extension ladder. Four firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used one hose reel and a ventilation unit to extinguish the fire and clear the property of smoke. The casualty was left in the care of paramedics at the scene and firefighters were in attendance approximately two hours.
