The initial call suggested someone might be trapped by fire in a flat in a two-storey building. Two fire engines and crews from Blackburn and one from Darwen attended and firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus searched for possible casualties but no-one was in fact trapped and there were no casualties. The fire was in a first floor flat and the firefighters used two hosereel jets to extinguish it. The cause of the fire is to be established.
