Two fire engines from Hyndburn and Darwen and a water rescue unit from Preston attended Whitebirk Drive in Blackburn, where a man was stranded on the canal banking after rescuing a dog from the water. Firefighters used a rescue sled to transport him across the canal to safety where he was treated by paramedics.
