Firefighters from Bamber Bridge were called to reports of a vehicle fire on the M61 at junction 9 near to the M6 connection. When they arrived they found the incident was actually a road traffic collision involving five vehicles. None of the vehicles were on fire and so firefighters were only required to assist in making the scene safe. There was no equipment in use.
