Four fire engines from Bacup, Rawtenstall and Rochdale were called to a fire involving a static caravan on High Barn Lane, Whitworth. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found that the fire had spread to a shipping container and propane cylinders were involved in the fire. Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a lance to extinguish the fire. Unfortunately, one dog was killed in the fire. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
