The week 01-07 May 2020 is Volunteers Week and we wanted to give a big virtual pat on the back to some of our incredible volunteers!

We nominated Sarah for the work she does as a volunteer Fire Cadet Leader over at Preesall Fire Station.

Sarah is always there for the cadets. She supports them every week and keeps the cadets motivated. Sarah is the first to volunteer for our fundraisers and training days and background support. On top of this Sarah (who works full time) has had a tough couple of years as her son (also a cadet) had a life changing accident and this had meant they have both really hadto dig deep to stay strong. Sarah never lets anything bring her down and always tackles any challenge with a smile and enthusiasm

Fire Cadet leaders are individuals (aged 18+) who volunteer to work alongside LFRS staff (firefighters and community protection staff) with our Fire Cadet units. The Fire Cadets meet for two hours on a weekly basis at a local Fire Station representing LFRS at community events, learn important skills such as team building, leadership and communication and work towards gaining a respected qualification that is recognised by the Fire and Rescue Service.

Fire Cadets are a world class, inclusive and progressive youth organisation, supported by Fire and Rescue Services (FRSs), which inspires and empowers young people through nationally recognised community-centred programmes. Find out more here.
