Firefighters from Skelmersdale and Ormskirk were called to reports of a fire involving a commercial building. On arrival firefighters found the fire involved a building approximately 40m by 50m. Firefighters began tackling the fire using the Stinger’s aerial monitor, and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using hose reels. They requested an additional three fire engines (from Chorley and two from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service) to assist with water relay.
At 22:20hrs the number of fire engines at the scene was reduced to two. They will continue to monitor and dampen down any remaining hot spots. Also in use bringing the fire under control were ventilation units and hose reels.
