Biker Down Lancashire event
Date: Monday, 26th January, 18:30 Location: Chorley Fire Station
Biker Down is a free, 3-hour course aimed at motorcyclists and their pillions. Would you know what to do if you came across a road accident involving a motorbike? How about top tips from professionals about how to stay safe on two wheels?
The Biker Down course offers all this and more, split into three engaging modules.
The awareness training comprises of three modules:
Module 1 – Incident Scene Management: managing the scene until help arrives, risk assessment and appropriate actions.
Module 2 – Casualty Care: how to treat the typical trauma and mechanism of injury found at the scene of a motorcycle related incident, including major bleeds and basic life support, managing spinal injuries, helmet removal and CPR.
Module 3 – The Science of Being Seen (devised by Kevin Williams from Survival Skills Motorcycle Training): examining phenomena such as motion camouflage, saccadic masking and looming and highlighting that a biker’s best defense is assuming that they might not be seen and riding accordingly.
Biker Down Lancashire is hosted and delivered by Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service staff who all have a keen interest in motorcycles.
Each team member is passionate about making motorcyclists safer on Lancashire's roads.
