Firefighters from Ormskirk were called to reports of a fire in the open on Bold Lane, Aughton. The fire was coming from a manhole cover used to house a subsurface electrical switch box. Crews left the fire to burn and used hose reels to damp down the surrounding area whilst utilities companies arrived to assist at the scene. The road was closed by the Police whilst the scene is being made safe. Firefighters handed over the incident to Cadent and Scottish Gas and were in attendance approximately eighty minutes. There were no casualties reported.
