On Monday morning, The Combined Fire Authority (CFA) appointed a new Chairman and Vice Chairman at the Annual General Meeting of the Lancashire Combined Fire Authority.
Following the recent elections in Lancashire, Blackpool and Blackburn with Darwen, the CFA is now under Conservative control and their leader, County Councillor David O’Toole from Aughton has been appointed Chairman. County Councillor O’Toole has served on the Fire Authority for 21 years and is beginning his second term as the leader. County Councillor John Shedwick from Thornton has been appointed as Vice Chairman and, like County Councillor O’Toole, this is his second term in office.
The changes see 9 new county councillors appointed to the Authority; they are County Councillor Keith Iddon, County Councillor Ged Mirfin, County Councillor Stuart Morris, County Councillor John Singleton, County Councillor Ron Woolam, County Councillor Munsif Dad, County Councillor Jennifer Mein, County Councillor Sean Serridge and County Councillor Jean Rigby.
County Councillor David O’Toole, the new Chairman of the Combined Fire Authority says:

It will be an honour to work with the Chief Fire Officer, his fantastic team and other members of the Fire Authority to ensure Lancashire continues to have one of the best fire and rescue services in the country.”
