At 11:49 on 16th August, two fire engines from Burnley and Nelson attended a road traffic collision on Hollin Mill Street, Brierfield. The incident involved a single vehicle that had entered the canal. Firefighters extricated one casualty using a triple extension ladder, and swift water rescue equipment. The casualty was then placed in the care of North West Ambulance Service personnel. Crews were in attendance for approximately twenty-five minutes.
