Waste fire in Preston

At 08:10 on the 12th March 2023, six fire engines from Preston, Fulwood, Penwortham, Bamber Bridge, Skelmersdale and Chorley along with the aerial ladder platform from Hyndburn attended an waste fire on Longridge Road, Preston. Firefighters are currently wearing breathing apparatus and are using two hose reel jets and a ground monitor to extinguish the fire.

If you can see or smell smoke, please close keep your windows and door closed.

Update at 10:30am: The stinger appliance, high volume pump and the drone unit are now in attendance. Please do not fly drones nearby as you will obstruct emergency operations.

Update 13:45pm: We would advise residents to continue keeping windows and doors closed if you can see or smell smoke.

Update at 19:00: This incident has now been reduced to two fire engines along with the specialist appliances including the stinger, aerial ladder platform and the high volume pump. Firefighting operations are still underway, crews are expected to remain in attendance for several hours. We would advise residents to keep your windows and doors closed if you can see or smell smoke. 

Update 09:00 on the 13th March 2023: Overnight, this incident was reduced to the stinger appliance and a high volume pump. Crews will remain in attendance today monitoring and extinguishing hot spots.
