At 09:15 on 18 December, nine fire engines from Leyland, Chorley, Bamber Bridge, Penwortham, and Preston attended a waste fire on Dawson Lane, Whittle-le-Woods. The incident involved approximately 30x30m of waste on a commercial waste site.
Update 11:58 – Firefighters are using two jets, one light portable pump, and one water bowser to extinguish the fire.
Update 13:34 – This incident is being scaled down. Crews are continuing to use thermal imaging cameras and drones to check the affected area for hotspots.
