Firefighters from Morecambe, Lancaster and Penwortham were called to assist at an incident near Halton Road, Lancaster after receiving reports of two casualties stranded on an island in the middle of the river Lune. Swift water rescue technicians entered the water and rescued the two people using a rescue sled and a first aid kit. One casualty was then conveyed to hospital by ambulance. Crews were in attendance approximately one hour.
