An opportunity has arisen for an individual to join an inclusive and value driven public sector organisation with an outstanding organisational culture. We offer free car parking, a generous pension and generous annual leave.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is currently recruiting for the post of Community Safety Advisor; the role of the post holder will be to help make Lancashire a safer community through promoting and advising on community fire safety and the wider determinants of health and wellbeing.

Applicants will be required to demonstrate an ability to support and communicate with vulnerable people living in the community, plus the ability to undertake a range of practical activities including the fitting of fire alarms.

It is also essential that applicants have a problem-solving approach to completing tasks and can work on their own initiative. Community Safety Advisors deliver training packages to groups of people, so applicants must have the ability to present information to small groups.

There will also be a requirement that the post holder take up the role of Fire Cadet Leader, supported by Operational Fire Fighters. Cadets run during term time on a Tuesday night from 16:15 to 18:15 at Skelmersdale Fire Station.

A driving licence and the availability of a suitable vehicle for business use are also essential.

This post is subject to a DBS Enhanced check via the Disclosure and Barring Service and any post holder who undertakes regulated activity may also be subject to an additional Barred List check.

Closing date for applications is 12 noon on 18th July 2025. However, we reserve the right to close the advert prior to this if sufficient quality applications have been received.

We anticipate interviews to take place on 31st July 2025. The interview process will involve a short presentation.

Diversity Matters at Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service – we want to attract the broadest range of people to work with us and the more diverse the workforce, the better able we are to serve our community. We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from all individuals regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexuality, social background, religion and/or belief or age. We are proud to be a Disability Confident Employer.

This post has been advertised internally and externally.
